In the week after Louisa Gag was killed while biking to work, 4,000 parents, families, and neighbors signed an open letter demanding urgent action from Mayor Wu on street safety.

This immense tragedy shows that the Boston Better Streets Coalition’s advocacy is not abstract. The consequences of delaying proven safety improvements are measured in human lives. We have lost a talented neighbor, friend, collaborator, and public servant who devoted her career to making Boston’s streets safer.

The letter calls on the Mayor to restart stalled safety projects, restore their funding, build urgently, appoint permanent safety-focused leadership, and publish timelines for improvements on every high-crash roadway.
